New London, NH - Any Good Colleges Around?

Hey everyone, I'm a junior living near New London, NH. I am starting to think about colleges and would like to stay pretty close to home. So, anyone have any good recommendations for colleges around this area? And what's their academic or social reputation like?

Absolutely, there are certainly a few colleges that stand out in New Hampshire and the New England region.

Close to you is Colby-Sawyer College in New London itself. It's on the smaller side, which can cultivate a more intimate and personal learning environment. Known for its nursing, business, and environmental science programs, the campus is integrated well into the community, offering a unique blend of academic and life experiences. Notably, it also offers a Dual Degree Engineering Program with Dartmouth College, allowing students to earn degrees from both institutions through a five-year program.

Speaking of which, Dartmouth College, one of the Ivy League schools, is about an hour away in Hanover. Its academic programs are consistently ranked among the highest in the country, especially in fields like government, economics, and English. Dartmouth has a vibrant social community with a prevalent Greek life.

A bit farther afield, you'll find the University of New Hampshire in Durham, which is about an hour and forty-five minutes away. UNH is the state's flagship public university and has strong programs in business and engineering. The social scene is diverse, with over 200 student clubs and organizations, making it easier for students to find communities they connect with.

And while not in New Hampshire, you're also relatively close to Vermont, where you might consider the University of Vermont in Burlington. Known for its environmental science and health science programs, UVM also offers a vibrant social scene.

Before making a decision, I strongly recommend visiting these campuses (either virtually or in person) to get a feel for the environment and see where you could potentially fit in. Research their offered programs and admission requirements to ensure they'll meet your academic needs and ambitions.
