Universities' Most Difficult Courses

Hey! What's the hardest class you guys have taken or heard of in university? I'm not just talking STEM classes, but anything that really tests your abilities across any field. Just trying to mentally prepare myself!

Hi there! This is a great question, though the answer could really vary based on personal strengths and interests. That said, there are a few subjects that tend to be notoriously challenging across the board.

For those interested in the sciences, Organic Chemistry traditionally tends to be quite difficult. This is largely due to the vast amount of memorization required, the abstract concepts, and the complexity of the reactions. Physics, especially classes like Quantum Mechanics, can also be quite demanding, especially at institutions with very strong physics programs.

In the humanities, Theory of Knowledge is a class that many find to be strenuous. It's a philosophy course, but it's one that really pushes students to dive deeply into abstract thought, forcing them to question and analyze the very nature of knowing and understanding.

For those leaning towards social sciences, econometrics can be rigorous too. It blends math, statistics, and economic theory—you really need to understand all three deeply to get the most of the course. Meanwhile in business, courses like Corporate Finance and Accounting can also be highly challenging due to the level of detail and analytical thinking required.

Of course, keep in mind that what's "hardest" can vary widely based on your own personal strengths and weaknesses. What's important is to approach each class with an open mind and a willingness to put in the work to succeed.
