I'm currently a junior eyeing some potential colleges in Miami. I've got a preference for public colleges so I was wondering if any of y'all could give me some pros and cons about the public colleges in Miami. What can one expect from the academic and campus life?

There are two main public colleges in Miami: Florida International University (FIU) and Miami Dade College (MDC). Both have their own unique strengths and aspects to consider.

Starting with FIU, it's a research-intensive institution with a diverse student body. The cons might include a commuter school feel, as many students live off-campus, leading to a different kind of social environment.
