Which Military Branches have Police Units?

Hey everyone! Junior in high school here. Lately, I've been considering a career in military policing after high school. I'm not sure which branch I should join for that, though. Can somebody on here provide some info on that? Thanks!

Each of the major branches of the U.S. military—Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard—have their own specialized law enforcement and policing units. Here is a brief rundown:

1. U.S. Army: Military Police (MPs) are responsible for upholding the law, maintaining order, and deterring crime within the Army. They perform patrols, traffic enforcement, and criminal investigations, both on and off base.

2. U.S. Navy: The Navy's law enforcement is carried out by the Master-at-Arms (MAA). MAAs perform similar duties to the Army's MPs, but they also protect ships, aircraft, and overseas bases.

3. U.S. Air Force: Security Forces (SFs) conduct policing and security duties. They provide force protection, police services, and conduct security for nuclear weapon systems and other priority resources.

4. U.S. Marine Corps: The Marine Corps has its own MPs that handle law enforcement and provide security services similar to their counterparts in the other branches.

5. U.S. Coast Guard: The Coast Guard has its own law enforcement detachments (LEDETs) that handle maritime law enforcement, including drug interdiction and public safety missions.

And lastly, the U.S. Space Force, being the newest branch, is still developing its approach to law enforcement and as of now largely depends on the Air Force's Security Forces for these services.

So whichever branch you choose, you'll find the opportunity to engage in law enforcement and policing duties. Explore the specific assignments, benefits, and lifestyle of each branch to see which resonates most with your personal goals and preferences.
