Seeking advice about top CS programs in Ohio

I've been really into coding for a couple of years now, and I'm thinking about majoring in Computer Science. I live in Ohio and would like to stay relatively close to home, so I'm curious about the best CS programs in-state. Any suggestions?

There are multiple second-to-none Computer Science (CS) programs in Ohio. Among the top contenders:

Ohio State University (OSU) is often recognized for its strong and extensive Computer Science program. They offer a breadth of courses in areas like artificial intelligence, data management, and software engineering—allowing you to specialize in a niche or explore a wide range of topics.

Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) is another solid choice. CWRU has a rigorous program and student experiences often highlight their strong faculty and the opportunity to be involved in research.

The University of Cincinnati boasts a great CS program where internships and co-op programs really shine—allowing students to gain vital real-world experiences.

Miami University, while perhaps a little less recognized, maintains a very good Computer Science and Software Engineering department. Students note the challenging curriculum and supportive faculty.

Finally, the University of Dayton's CS program is well-rounded and the school also has strong connections with local businesses and tech companies, which can be beneficial for internships and job placement.

While all these universities offer well-respected programs, the "best" one for you depends on your individual preferences, such as class size, campus culture, opportunities for internships or research, cost, and so on. I'd also recommend considering if there's a specific area of CS you're interested in, as that might sway your decision towards a school strong in that particular focus area. Examples could be Software development, Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Security, Graphics, or Networking.
