Cheap Universities in the USA for International Students?

Hey everyone! I'm an international student, currently looking into studying in the USA. Can anyone share a list of affordable colleges or universities in the U.S particularly for us international folks? I'm not picky about location or size, just hoping to ease the financial burden. Thanks!

Sure, happy to help! Making college more affordable is a common concern for students – and especially for international students who often don't qualify for federal financial aid. However, there are universities in the U.S that are known to be more affordable for international students.

Here are some options:

1. Berea College (Kentucky): This is a private work college that is tuition-free for all students. The school’s Work Program allows its students (including the international ones) to work on campus for at least 10 hours per week in exchange for their tuition.

2. University of the People (Online): As an online university, UoPeople offers tuition-free degrees. While there is no tuition, there are some fees – $100 per end-of-course exam, amongst others.

3. Brigham Young University (Utah): This University, affiliated with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, offers comparatively low tuition rates for members of the Church. However, even for non-members, the tuition is still affordable compared to many other U.S. universities.

4. California State University (various locations): These universities offer reasonable rates for tuition and fees and several campuses have solid credentials academically. Being a state school allows them to offer affordable rates in comparison to many private institutions.

5. University of Minnesota (Minnesota): This is one of the most affordable of the major research universities for international students.

6. Alcorn State University (Mississippi): A historically black college, Alcorn State offers one of the lowest out-of-state tuition rates in the U.S.

7. State University of New York(SUNY) Schools: Several SUNY schools, such as SUNY Buffalo and SUNY Stony Brook, offer good value to international students.

Remember, even if a school has a higher tuition, it's worth checking out scholarships and financial aid packages that might be available to international students. Also, some colleges will reduce or waive international student fees if you can demonstrate financial need. It's always worth talking directly to each college's admissions and financial aid offices for the most accurate and up-to-date information. Good luck with your search!
