Looking for Colleges Close to Maryland...

Hi everyone, I'm trying to stay close to home (Maryland) for college—preferably within a 2-3 hour drive. I'm open to all types of colleges, whether they're big or small, public or private. Does anyone have any ideas?

You're indeed in a great location in terms of proximity to several quality institutions. Here are a few options worth considering:

1. University of Maryland, College Park: This is Maryland's flagship public university, known for its strong STEM programs. It's a relatively large school with a multitude of academic programs and student organizations.

2. Johns Hopkins University: Based in Baltimore, Hopkins is highly reputable, especially for its pre-medical and engineering programs.

3. Towson University: Also located in the Baltimore area, Towson is known for its education and nursing programs. It's a mid-sized public institution and has a suburban setting.

4. University of Delaware: Just a short ride away in Newark, Delaware, this public research university has strong programs in business, chemical engineering, and physical therapy.

5. Georgetown University: In Washington D.C., Georgetown is one of the country's top private universities. Known particularly for its international relations, business, and law programs.

6. George Washington University: Also in D.C., it's especially known for its international affairs, political science, and journalism programs.

7. American University: In addition to its picturesque campus in D.C., it's well-regarded for its programs in journalism, political science and government, and international relations.

8. University of Virginia: In Charlottesville, UVA is one of the top-ranked public universities in the country, offering strong programs across many disciplines. It may be slightly outside your desired commute depending on where you live in Maryland.

This list represents a variety of types, sizes, and academic strengths. Feel free to research more about these and visit if possible to get a feel of the campus culture. Good luck!
