Military Branches and Immigrant Participation

Hi folks, been reading up on this and trying to clear it up...which branch of the military allows immigrants to serve? Really curious about this. Please let me know if you have any information.

All branches of the U.S. military, including the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, and Space Force, allow immigrants to serve. However, eligibility criteria may vary based on immigration status.

Specifically, lawful permanent residents (green card holders) and certain nationals from countries like Micronesia, Palau, and the Republic of the Marshall Islands, are generally eligible to enlist in the U.S. military.

It's important to note, however, that some positions within the military, primarily those that involve access to sensitive information, might require a security clearance and therefore might be restricted to U.S. citizens.

Also, serving in the military does not automatically grant U.S. citizenship, but it can potentially expedite the process. Members of the U.S. military who are non-citizens are generally eligible to apply for U.S. citizenship under sections 328 and 329 of the Immigration and Nationality Act.

Regardless of the branch you're interested in, it's crucial to discuss your particular circumstances with a military recruiter for the most accurate and relevant information. They will be able to guide you based on your specific immigration status, interests, and goals.
