Letting siblings serve together in the military?

My brother and I have always been close and we're considering enlisting together right after high school. I was just wondering if any military branches allow siblings to serve together in the same units or roles?

Yes, siblings can join the military and serve together. This is called the "Buddy Program" which is available in several branches of U.S. military service including the Army, Navy, and Air Force.

The Buddy Program allows two people who know each other, like siblings, friends, or spouses, to enlist together, go through their training (boot camp, A-school, etc.) together, and even get assigned to their first duty station together. This is not guaranteed, however, as assignments are largely determined by the needs of the military at the time of your completion of training. The Navy, for example, even has a specific program called the "Sailor to Sailor" program designed to allow married couples to serve together.

However, there are certainly factors to consider beyond just getting assigned to the same unit. Even if you're trained in the same specialty and assigned to the same unit, the military's requirements could split you up in the future. Specialists are reassigned based on the needs of the service, and those could send you both in different directions at any time.

You and your sibling would need to discuss this with a recruiter to understand all the specifics of how this might work in the branch of service you are considering.
