Hi there! I'm in the midst of the college application process and I'm really interested in staying somewhere close to home - Washington State. Does anyone know just how many colleges are there in our state? Both universities and smaller colleges count.
Hello! There are a good number of colleges/universities in Washington State. As per the National Center for Education Statistics, there's a total of about 43 public and private non-profit four-year colleges/universities in Washington State. There are also 34 two-year community and technical colleges.
This includes a mix of both large research institutions (like the University of Washington), smaller colleges (like Walla Walla University), and specialty schools (like Cornish College of the Arts).
Good luck with your college application process! It's great that you're exploring your in-state options, as some of these institutions may offer tuition benefits for state residents.
