Financial aid info for ISU Pocatello?

Hey all. I've been thinking about applying to Idaho State University at Pocatello. But, before I go forward, I'd like to know a little more about their financial aid system. Any info on it would be greatly appreciated!

Idaho State University (ISU) offers several financial aid options to its students, including grants, scholarships, work-study programs, and student loans.

Firstly, you should submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as early as possible. The FAFSA is used by ISU to determine your eligibility for certain types of financial aid, including federal grants, loans, and work-study funding. Additionally, ISU uses the FAFSA to distribute university need-based grants.

ISU does have a wide range of institutional scholarships. Some of them are merit-based, which means they are awarded based on your academic achievements, while others are need-based, taking into consideration your family's financial situation. The university also has some scholarships specific to certain fields of study. The scholarship application is separate from the admission application, and the deadline commonly falls in February.

Idaho residents may qualify for the Idaho Opportunity Scholarship, which helps to offset the cost of tuition, fees, and books. Other state-based scholarships include the Lewis-Clark Legacy Scholarship and Tschudy Family Scholarship.

Work-study opportunities, part of the federal financial aid program, are available at ISU as well. It provides part-time jobs to students, allowing them to earn money to help cover education expenses.

Finally, loans from federal, state, or private sources can be used to bridge the gap between the cost of attendance and other forms of financial aid. Keep in mind that loans must be repaid, often with interest.

Remember, the specific aid you receive will depend on your personal financial situation and your academic profile. Be sure to check with ISU's Financial Aid office or their website for the most accurate information. Additionally, you can use their net price calculator to estimate how much you'll end up paying for school after financial aid.
