Marymount Manhattan: How are the Majors?

I've recently been exploring Marymount Manhattan and I'm interested in their academic programs. Does anyone have feedback on the range and quality of majors they offer? I'm leaning towards Social Sciences but I'm not sure yet, so info on a variety of their majors would be helpful!

Marymount Manhattan offers a broad range of major options. Their focus, however, is primarily in the arts and humanities, particularly in areas such as theater, dance, and communication. The college is known for its strong performing arts programs, including an acting program which has produced several successful performers.

In terms of Social Sciences, Marymount Manhattan offers degrees in areas such as Sociology, International Studies, and Politics & Human Rights. These programs emphasize experiential learning, so students often get involved in community-based research projects or internships in New York City. This exposure can be very valuable, considering the city's dynamic sociopolitical landscape.

Marymount Manhattan's academics across all majors tend to be student-centered and provide plenty of hands-on learning opportunities. Classes are typically small, allowing students to get individual attention from professors.

However, being a liberal arts college, Marymount Manhattan also offers an Interdisciplinary Studies program that allows students to design their own major. This is quite appealing for students who have multidisciplinary interests.

When considering the quality of the majors, it might be helpful to reach out to current students or alumni to get first-hand accounts of their experiences. Also, look at the course offerings in your areas of interest and see if they align with your career goals or personal interests. You can also review the faculty profiles to get an idea of their expertise and areas of research. Lastly, if you can, it might be beneficial to visit the campus to sit in on a few classes and truly get a sense of the classroom dynamics you would encounter.
