What’s the Aerospace Engineering scene like in Georgia?

Hey y'all! I'm quite invested in aerospace engineering and focused on studying the subject. I've heard mixed things about studying this major in Georgia. Can anyone give me an insight into the aerospace engineering courses in Georgia schools?

Sure, happy to help! When it comes to aerospace engineering, Georgia Tech is one of the most well-known institutions for the major not just in Georgia, but nationwide. The Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering at Georgia Tech ranks highly among aerospace engineering programs in the US. It offers rigorous curriculum coupled with opportunities for research, co-op programs, and internships within the industry which sets you up nicely for a future career. Many of its students end up with internships at prominent aerospace companies or places like NASA.

Another Georgia institution worth mentioning is Middle Georgia State University. They got a School of Aviation which offers a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Science and Management with a Concentration in Aerospace Technology. Though not purely an aerospace engineering program, it could still provide a route into the aerospace industry.

Small institutions like Mercer University also host an engineering program where you can major in Mechanical Engineering but concentrate in areas like Aerospace or Materials, which might be an alternative route if the larger programs are not a fit for you.

On the professional side, Georgia is home to several aerospace companies like Gulfstream Aerospace, Lockheed Martin, and Delta TechOps. There's a well-established industry in the state, which can be beneficial when you're seeking internships and post-grad employment.

So, while Georgia may not have a huge selection of schools to choose from for Aerospace Engineering, the quality of Georgia Tech's program and the breadth of the professional opportunities in the state make it a strong contender for students interested in this field!
