Central Washington University Tuition Fees

Hello! I've been looking at Central Washington University as one of my potential choices after high school. I'm super worried about the tuition fees though. Does anyone know how much it costs for an out of state student? Any advice on scholarships/financial aid I should be aware of? Thanks in advance!

Hello! Central Washington University is certainly an exciting choice. As for the tuition fees for an out-of-state student, for the 2024-2025 academic year, the estimated tuition and fees are around $25,340. This would be for full time students taking 15 credits per quarter for three quarters. Keep in mind that this estimate doesn't include other expenses like housing, meals, books and supplies, or personal expenses.

As for financial aid and scholarships, the first thing you'll want to do is complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as you get the chance - the sooner, the better, as many types of aid are first come, first serve. This will help you to qualify for need-based aid, such as grants or student loans. Basing on your family's income and ability to pay, your Student Aid Index (SAI) will be determined, which will be used by CWU to determine your financial aid package. The FAFSA is an annual process, so remember to complete it each year.

Additionally, Central Washington University offers numerous scholarships, both need-based and merit-based. The Wildcat Promise awards up to $5,000 annually to freshmen with strong academic records. There are also program-specific scholarships for students in certain majors and scholarships for transfer students if you fall under that category. Most scholarships have their application process and deadlines, so be sure to do your research and keep track of them.

And lastly, don't forget to plan ahead for other potential expenses - the cost of college isn't just tuition and fees. Use CWU's net price calculator (https://www.cwu.edu/_app/net-price-calc/)to get a more complete estimate of what it costs to attend, including living expenses, books, and other costs. This will give you a better idea of what you're likely to pay, taking into account both costs and major aid programs.

There's a lot to unpack here, but I hope this gives you a good starting point in understanding tuition costs and potential financial aid at CWU. Good luck with your college journey!
