Opening Date for Common App

When does the Common App usually open for application submissions? I want to start applying as early as possible so I don't miss any opportunities.

The Common Application typically opens for new application submissions on August 1st of each year. While this can seem like a later start for eager students, many colleges don't finalize their application requirements until the summer. You can certainly begin drafting responses to standard essay prompts and gather necessary information ahead of time. However, your actual application submission can't happen until the platform opens in August.

Just remember, while it's beneficial to start early, take your time to fill out your application thoroughly and thoughtfully. Your goal should be to submit a high-quality application, not just the earliest one. Early application submissions won't necessarily give you an advantage in the admissions process, unless you're applying Early Decision or Early Action, which typically have deadlines in November.
