Concerned about waitlist

So I'm really nervous I'm going to get waitlisted from the colleges I'm applying to. I'd love to know if they usually accept a lot from the waitlist. Any tips on what to do next would be great.

Being waitlisted can indeed be a bit nerve-wracking as it keeps you in a sort of limbo. But rest assured, getting waitlisted means you were a strong candidate and they see potential in you.

As for how many students are admitted from the waitlist, it can greatly vary from year to year. Factors at play might include the number of students that accept their initial offers of admission and the university's enrollment goals for that year.

Now, regarding what you can do next:

1. Confirm your spot: Make sure to follow the university's instructions for declaring your interest in remaining on the waitlist. This usually involves a simple confirmation via their online portal.

2. Be prepared: It's crucial that you have a backup plan. If you've got acceptances from other universities, look into them and make a choice. Confirm your place at an institution where you'd be happy to attend as you may not get off the waitlist.

3. Send an update: If the university allows it, consider sending an update to your application with significant new achievements since your original application.+

4. Write a letter of continued interest (LOCI): Reinforce your interest in the university by writing a LOCI. Talk about why UW is a good fit for you, and vice versa. However, refrain from overwhelming the admission's office with constant updates and letters.

5. Stay calm: This process can take time and may not be resolved until well into the summer.

It's also worth noting that financial aid offers may be different for students admitted off the waitlist as the aid has already been distributed to the admitted class. If financial aid is a crucial factor for you, you may want to look into this aspect.

Be sure to stay positive and patient while waiting for a decision from UW. Regardless of the outcome, you've clearly worked hard and should be proud of your efforts. Good luck with everything!
