What's the scoop on St. Thomas University in Florida?

I'm starting to narrow down my college list and I'm considering St. Thomas University in Florida. Can any of you provide reviews on the institution? How does it fair in terms of academic environment, student activities and nightlife?

St. Thomas University, located in Miami Gardens, Florida, is known for a number of unique features that could be attractive to different types of students.Firstly, on the academic front, their programs often emphasize practical learning and real-world experience. This university is especially known for its Law program and its Biscayne College for Arts & Sciences. There's also a focus on research opportunities, even for undergraduate students. Keep in mind, however, that these experiences can vary greatly depending on the field you are entering and it's important to explore this aspect directly with the department you're interested in.

In terms of student activities, St. Thomas offers a wide range of clubs and organizations that cater to many interests. Sporting events are popular, as are various on-campus cultural events and gatherings. The university has athletics teams - Bobcats - that compete in the NAIA Sun Conference, which can provide some school spirit to your extracurricular life.

In terms of nightlife, it's good to remember that St. Thomas is a smaller private Catholic university with around 4,000 students. Therefore it might not have the same array of nightlife as a large state school. That being said, Miami as a city offers a wide variety of entertainment and nightlife options, so you'll more likely head into the city to find those night time activities.

One thing for students to keep in mind is that St. Thomas is a Catholic university and, while they accept students of all faiths and backgrounds, the Catholic values and mission do permeate a lot of their ethos and activities. While you don't need to be religious to attend, being comfortable with a faith-based mission and value set is important when considering St. Thomas.

Remember, a visit to the campus, even virtually, can give you an even deeper understanding of what life and academics at St. Thomas University would be like.
