Seeking advice on pursuing a Bachelor's in Creative Writing.

Creative Writing has always been a passion of mine, and I'm thinking about making it my major in college. Those of you who've pursued this, what has been your experience? Universities recommendations are welcomed!

That's wonderful that you want to take your passion for Creative Writing further by majoring in it during college. Studying Creative Writing at college can provide rich experiences, from unique peer feedback to opportunities to experiment in styles and genres.

It's crucial to keep in mind, though, that success in creative writing, like other artistic fields, can depend more on your portfolio, tenacity, and networking skills than on your degree per se. So remember to take advantage of every opportunity available to build these.

In terms of where to study, several colleges and universities stand out for their robust Creative Writing programs. For instance, Johns Hopkins University is known for being particularly strong in the field. It offers a major in Writing Seminars, which encompasses elements of a traditional English literature degree and a writing workshop program.

Additionally, the University of Iowa's Creative Writing program is widely recognized. It's home to the highly respected Iowa Writers’ Workshop and has an extensive list of successful alumni.

Emory University is another institution with a strong Creative Writing program. It often brings in acclaimed authors as guest lecturers and has fantastic professors.

On the west coast, Stanford University's Creative Writing program is notable. It offers a unique "English Major with Emphasis in Creative Writing," blending literature courses and writing workshops.

Lastly, remember to check out the faculty at each institution. Look for professors who work in the genre you're interested in and whose writing style you admire. It's also beneficial if the school has a Literary Magazine you can contribute to or even help run.

Happy writing, and best of luck in your college search!
