What's CU Boulder's admission rate like?

Hey folks, I'm considering applying to the University of Colorado Boulder but need more clarity about their admission rate. Is it highly competitive? How does it compare to other similar colleges? Any info would be appreciated!

The University of Colorado Boulder (CU Boulder) has a relatively high acceptance rate compared to more selective universities. For the 2023-2024 academic year, the acceptance rate was around 80%. In other words, out of every 100 students who applied, CU Boulder accepted approximately 80.

This rate would place CU Boulder in a competitive category, but it is not as selective as some of the more renowned institutions. For comparison, more selective state universities like UNC Chapel Hill, or University of Michigan, have acceptance rates significantly lower than CU Boulder—around 17% for UNC and 18% for Michigan for that same year.

While the acceptance rate can give some indication of the competitiveness of the admission process, it's also important to account for other factors. Admission rate doesn't tell you everything about how well your profile fits with what the university is seeking. It's beneficial to review the admitted student profile, including average GPA and SAT/ACT scores of admitted students, to better understand the landscape of CU Boulder's competitive admission environment.

So while CU Boulder may be less selective than some other universities, it still requires a strong academic performance to be competitive in the pool of applicants.
