Best strategies for PSAT test day?

Hey everyone, just starting to think about the PSAT. I’m kinda anxious about what exactly I should bring with me to the test center. Any advice on what is essential to have during the PSAT, like do I need a calculator, snacks, etc.?

Hello! It's great that you're planning ahead for the PSAT. Here's what you should definitely bring: a valid photo ID, your test registration information, two No. 2 pencils with erasers (mechanical pencils are not allowed), and an approved calculator (it's a good idea to bring extra batteries just in case). While a calculator isn't required for all math questions, it's certainly helpful for some, so you'll want to have one with you.

It's also smart to pack a snack and water for the break, although you won't be able to eat or drink in the testing room. Dressing in layers is advisable too, as the temperature in testing centers can be unpredictable. Finally, try to bring a watch to help you manage your time, but make sure it doesn’t beep or make loud noises as it can be a disturbance.

Leaving your phone behind or turning it off during the test will help you avoid any distractions or testing violations. Getting a good night’s sleep before test day and having a healthy breakfast can also help you feel your best. Remember, the PSAT is a great practice opportunity for the SAT, so while you should take it seriously, don’t put too much pressure on yourself. Good luck!
