Meet the panelists: Yanlin (Jenny), Simon, Menduyarka, Joseph
Jenny is a junior studying in Villanova university. She is currently pursuing a bachelor’s in Computer Science and Psychology with a minor in Japanese. Jenny is an active member in Villanova’s international student’s organization. Outside of academia, she enjoys playing video games, exploring current events, and planning her next meal.
Simon (he/him) is a senior from West Windsor, NJ, majoring in Chemical Engineering, with minors in Engineering entrepreneurship and theology. Simon is the founder of the Engineering Wellness Committee and of TEDxVillanovaU's Student Spotlight Series. Simon is an orientation counselor, research assistant, and he starts for Men's Club Volleyball. He is passionate about sustainability and social justice, loves to cook, and his favorite animal is a dolphin!
Menduyarka is a junior from Villanova University studying Computer Science and Software Engineering in the College of Arts and Sciences. Samuel is an active member of the National Society of Black Engineers and Google Student Developers, and has founded both educational-based and STEM-based nonprofits over the course of his high school and college careers. Outside of schools, Sam develops websites, plays Ultimate Frisbee, and does computer research.
Joey is a senior from Lexington, Massachusetts, pursuing a degree in Business Administration as a Finance and Economics major with an International Business minor. Outside of academics, he is an assistant captain of the Men’s Club Ice Hockey team, a member of the Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity, the Mergers & Acquisitions Society, and a Blue Key Ambassador for the Office of Education Abroad.

Work Experience: I got my PhD in history from Boston University in 2020. I have worked as a researcher and writer for a Boston-based policy center and am a freelance editor.
My Admissions Story: I remember the admissions process as a time to imagine possible futures (where to live? what to study? who to meet?), though am happy to report (as you can see from my bio) that few of those decisions were set in stone. So have fun and enjoy the ride!
