Do schools need 3-4 years of the same language or can it I take 2 different languages?

I want to take Mandarin but only 2 years are offered.

If you plan on applying to elite colleges or Ivy colleges then you need 3 years minimum 1 language, preferably 4 or 5.

UC Schools will accept 2 years but preferably 3 years in 1 language.

Also, if you say Chinese American and speak Chinese at home, then taking Chinese as your language is a loophole that is not looked on with high regard. Admissions officers prefer that you take a non-native language for your AP or SAT Subject tests.
