Which asb position should I run for?
Answered

I'm a sophomore and my school is starting asb elections. I can't decide if I want to try to be treasurer or student board representative. I think I have a equally good chance of winning for both positions and I'm interested in both. Does one look better than the other on college applications?

Hey @Anib! Can you explain what your role/responsibility would look like for the treasurer position compared to the student board representative position at your school?

Hey @Anib, non-President positions are usually seen as equivalent at first-glance, so one position title probably won't "look better" than the other. It’s really what you DO with your position that ultimately matters. I'd suggest that you pick the position that a) you're more interested in and b) will give you the opportunity to make the most impact! Honestly, as long as you dedicate yourself to the role you chose and make the most of it, you will be fine!

I feel like they can both look good on college applications especially depending on how well you did in that position, but I think that going for student board representative is a great choice for you and does look better on college applications. I feel like you can handle it because you seem like a smart person, but you should follow your heart, and ask yourself which position are you more interested in.

board rep looks better on applications bc they have a heavy role and duty compared to treasurer
