Hello! I am a sophomore (already 16) and am looking for medical/science research internships for the summer (paid or unpaid doesn't matter its the experience that counts) in northern virginia. Does anyone have any suggestions/programs they know of? I'm going to volunteer at the hospital too. Thanks!
Or even a nursing home nearby
I saw this one on the CollegeVine blog: http://pharmacy.howard.edu/centers-grant-programs/center-excellence/high-school-summer-enrichment-science-academy
They give preference to "students who reside in Washington, DC, Maryland or Virginia." and I think applications are due in February.
Volunteering at your local hospital is also a great idea. If you can't find an official internship, doing even more volunteering for a non-profit organization (maybe health related?) could be awesome too. Community service shows colleges that you are serious about making a positive impact on your community and you can learn a lot of similar and valuable skills (while also getting a potentially more diverse experience!).
Here's the blog article I mentioned: https://blog.collegevine.com/15-medical-internships-for-high-school-students/
To keep this community safe and supportive:
