Rising Senior Extracarriculars
Answered

As a rising high school senior, what extracurriculars/ volunteer/ internship opportunities should I participate in over the summer or in the fall to enhance my application? I have a strong list of each currently on my resume, but I want to do everything I can to maximize my chances of getting in.

These activities are in my mind for this summer to enhance my application.

Internships are a great way to show colleges that you have already gained some experience in your chosen field.

Participating in sports shows colleges that you have a strong sense of commitment and that you’re willing to work hard to achieve your goals.

Your college application is about a lot more than your grades. The best extracurriculars for college grades include clubs or teams you have been part of in high school.

While it’s important to include extracurricular activities that are related to your chosen field or area of academic interest.

Hi, I am also a rising senior and I have a busy summer coming up. Over the summer, I am participating in three college programs and have a summer job! Ways you can maximize your resume is you could start a passion project, find internships online, and apply to summer college programs. Or you can take an online class that you are interested in, for example, if you want to learn more about coding find a coding class. Find anything that you are interested in and passionate about! There are also online volunteering opportunities online, my favorite website to find these would be on VolunteerMatch. I hope this helps!

Hi!! It depends on what you want to study. Colleges would rather see that you are interested about a specific topic than have you be involved in lots of activities without a true passion. Internships are a great way to improve your extracurriculars since you can choose an internship that relates to your major.
