How should I decide what to pursue my major in?
Answered

Hi everyone!

So I am going to be applying as a Transfer for the Spring 2022 semester at a variety of different universities in the US.

My main options for majors right now are Communications, Marketing, or Public Relations.

I have an interest in all of these, but I feel like Communications has more doors for me to open, but I want to work in the Marketing sector after graduation. It's something I have experience and interest in.

Out of all those degree options, which do you recommend?

Should I go specific and focus on Marketing? Should I choose to pursue a very versatile degree in either Communications or Public Relations?

Or do you have recommendations for Major/Minors etc...?

I hope you can help, thanks!

Hi! I think a great idea that you should consider is double majoring on communications and on marketing. I was reading an article of what are the best majors to double major in and communications with marketing was one of the best options. Hope this could help you!

Something to consider is if you will need any extra school after you get your degree to get a job in a field you want or the kind of pay you want. But, since you want to work in Marketing then I think a marketing major makes the most sense. I also think the idea of a double major with marketing/communications would work well.

If you have to pick one major for your application though it sounds like Marketing is the way to go. It sounds like you will be able to create a better application due to your experience and interest in it.
