Essay topic
Answered

I would like to apply to top colleges, and I was thinking of doing my topic about how I had to take care of my older brother at a young age and made me choose what I would like to study and what I feel my mission in life is (help them be safe through medicine).

That is definitely a good topic. I'm assuming (sorry if I'm wrong) that your brother has a medical condition that you helped him with. If you are planning on entering the medical field and major in something related to medicine, definitely use the topic! If not, possibly consider using another topic. Just remember that the essay lets colleges know who YOU are and is supposed to be about you, so try not to base too much of the essay around your brother. Hope this helps!

That sounds like an amazing idea! However, just as a reminder remember not to focus solely on your hardships. Though it is pivotal to share your story, try to utilize your adversity as something you overcame to reach success. Other than that, just make sure to use vivid imagery and a captivating intro.
