Are Educational Programs Considered ECs?

I have participated in a UCLA Program (We met every Saturday for ~8 months), in a BRRC Program (2 week long program, we met 4 times a week), and currently applying to be a Thrive Scholar. Are these considered ECs?

It really depends on what is most important to you. I would say to include your program at UCLA as an extracurricular because of the longer time span. For the BRRC Program, I would say it’s safe to include it as an extracurricular if you feel it was a significant enough experience. (Also, remember that some schools will allow you to send in an additional resume). Regarding the Thrive Scholars Program, I would count that as an honor, rather than an activity.

Also, since you are applying to Thrive, consider applying to the LEDA Scholars Program as well. It’s a program held at Princeton and it has some similarities to Thrive. You can find more info at the website (ledascholars.org). I’m also a LEDA Cohort 17 Scholar, so if you have any questions, let me know! (There’s also a discord for Cohort 18 applicants.
