Arabic language self-study online?

US High School Junior -- Hope to start studying Arabic online this summer as research internship now cancelled. Can anyone recommend a site/firm? I'm exploring www.arabacademy.com, which has partnerships with US and UK universities. Thanks.

Hello, MJZR! I'd recommend Yale's Summer Session online courses for Arabic. They are affiliated with Yale University. There is a wide range of courses for Arabic (they have different levels and the like). You may take "Intermediate Modern Standard Arabic I" as a start. I hope this helps and have a great day ahead!

Whatever you do, I would watch TV shows in Arabic and try and get an internet friend who speaks the language. Building that fluency and wide vocabulary will help a lot on placement exams, especially if they have listening portions. You can also check some online colleges (eg BYU online) to see if they offer it as an accredited class which could transfer onto your high school transcript (if your school accepts accredited online classes-- check with your guidance counselor), making it more obvious on your apps.

If you are looking to become fluent don't use it but if you want to have a understanding of it/pseudo working knowledge of Arabic Id recommend Duolingo but keep in mind this Version of Arabic is the formal version of it not a regional dialect so morrocan Arabic is totally different that Lebaneese Arabic etc.
