Before High School Activities?
Answered

Hi! Just have a quick question: should you include activities that you participated in before you were in high school? For example, in the 8th grade I started a writing club at my school. Should I include that in resumes? Or would you advise leaving earlier accomplishments out?

Thanks!

If they are significant then yes. Starting a club is great so I would include it.

i have heard from counselors at my school that you should only include things before high school if you are still continuing it (ex: community service at the same place, a sport, etc.) or if it very significant (ex: one of my friends performed at the sydney opera house with their choir in 8th grade). if either applies, definitely put it on your resume! :-)

I think you should if you have continued the activity, for example, if you were a Scout and started in middle school but are still doing it in high school. Personally, I would leave out earlier things unless you have continued them in some form.

Most colleges do not care about anything other than highschool, unless you won Olympics at 12, I would not include it....
