The school that I'm applying to has a huge in state population, and I am out of state. I know that out of state students have a harder chance getting in, but I'm not sure whether or not the calculator accounts for this.
Yes, since the data input required are the name of your high school, zip code etc, CV knows how to differentiate between in state versus out of state. For top public colleges, there seems to always be some variation between in-state admit rates being higher and out-of-state being lower. UVA for example. As you get to top schools like UCLA/UCBerkley hovering in the low teens for admit rates, I think either location matters less, or out-of-state depending on which state you live in has an advantage.
