I just got an email from am alumni (Stanford) for an interview.
I did not expect to get one at all because I am in Nigeria, and somehow think Nigerians aren't in places like that (No offence to the members of my nation)
Neither do I expect a foreigner to just 'happen' to be an alumni and want to interview people while here.
I am freaking out.
What do I do?
How do I prepare?
What's a US College interview like?
What do they talk about?
How much of Stanford Should I know. I know the basics and stuff I really love about it.
Do I need to go down to dark history?
What kind of questions are suitable to ask the interviewer?
Please help me!!!!!!
It's in a week's time.
Please I need advice.
Hello! Take some deep breathes it's going to be okay. Here are some tips!
What they will talk (ask) about: Falls into one of four categories: questions about your fit with the college, questions about your personality, questions about interests and goals, and broader questions requiring a more thoughtful response.
Think of it like a job interview. Practice your answers to their questions and be detailed.
They might ask in depth about your hobbies, maybe something you mentioned on your essay, or your experiences while in high school. The interviewer may also ask you questions regarding your personality and other goals outside of your future career.

(1) Prepare questions for your interviewer. This also helps demonstrate your genuine interest in the college. Ex: Some questions you can ask in an alumni interview: What was your experience like at the school? Did you find the school well integrated into a greater community beyond the school? Was there anything you did not like about your school?
(2)Research the school and have a few talking points in mind to demonstrate why you're interested in the college and why you'd be a good fit.
So, when it was built, founder, teacher for specific career you want, school character, who is the chairman, admin staff, some alumni. Learn about some of the clubs they offer or awards the school has won too. You want to seem like you really love it.
(3)Be there on time, neatly dressed. Wear solid colors or see if youtube has any tips. Ask some of your teachers too. If you're a male applicant, wear khakis and a tucked in button down with dress shoes and a belt. If you're a female applicant, wear a black skirt or black pants and a basic top. Do not dress in all black.

I really hope this helps! Good luck you can do it!!
Check out this Youtube video from a Harvard student on how to achieve that memorable and quality interview that you are gunning for. Definitely use this as a supplement to go hand in hand with @K.Santiago1 's advice. Hope this helps.
To keep this community safe and supportive:
ask questions relating to your major. ask how many credits you need to take yearly. ask what sort of things could compromise your scholarship. ask how students and staff rate the cafeteria. ask what would be one thing they would change about the college themselves. ask what sort of clubs would be fun for you. IDK man but congrats on making it to stanford. i hope u do rlly well there.
