I have a 36 ACT (36E, 36M, 36R, 36S) and a 1560 SAT (790M, 760R). While I am happy with my SAT score, it's not as strong as my ACT and I am wondering if it will hurt or help to submit it as well.
In many cases they will use your best score. I doubt it would hurt you to submit both, as both tests cover slightly different areas. It just shows that you have awesome scores on both tests and the college admission counselors will just be more impressed to see you completed both tests with such impressive scores.
Honestly, with such high scores, it doesn't matter if you submit your ACT or SAT or both scores because they are both 99%+ to 99.9% scores. All colleges will not prefer one or the other.
If you don't want to come across like "flexing" then I would just submit the ACT score.
Good luck with the other components of your college applications.
Hi, thank you for asking your question! First off, congratulations on achieving such amazing scores! I would submit your best score, in this case your ACT. If you are interested in science majors, then doing so can be beneficial because you have an additional science subsection to show off. Otherwise, the scores are very similar.
Great job!
Here's the breakdown for me:
Colleges don't have too much of a preference over SAT/ACT, however, a perfect 36 ACT (including subscores) can often come off as more impressive, especially for math. That's sort of what the ACT is notorious for, having a more difficult math section then the SAT. Everything I've mentioned is based on a superficial amount of data, but I can understand why admissions officers would often have this type of mentality. Regardless, don't stress. You likely won't face a detriment to admissions chances with either score. Best of luck!
That's awesome that you had such a good SAT score and ACT score
