How can I further my extracurricular/academic portfolio to maximize admissions chances?
Answered

I'm in 9th grade and want to apply to top schools, such as Harvard and MIT. I'll list some of my basic information, and I was hoping you would have some suggestions as to how to further my likelihood of acceptance.

- Skipped 5th grade

- 4.23 unweighted GPA (4.33 scale, 1st semester)

- 1370 PSAT 8-9

- Varsity cross country, indoor track, outdoor track

- Independent science research project researching CRISPR treatments for Huntington's disease

- Social events chair on my class council

- Member of Student Gov and Peer Leadership

- All honors classes

- A+ in all except for an A in math

- 35 volunteer hours currently (from teaching music lessons and volunteering at library)

Also, I have a strong focus in biology and neuroscience, so any course or program recommendations in those areas would be greatly appreciated

This is amazing! I would say keep this up and take challenging courses over the next years in high school and keep pursuing things you love. Take leadership positions when applicable as well. Your stats are incredible and I would consider brainstorming essay topics now to get those really solid. I personally think you have a great shot at these top schools however they are so so competitive and so many incredibly qualified applicants get rejected. Nevertheless you will get into an amazing school. Best of luck and continue the great work!
