hi, i am a junior and am looking to go to film school or an arts based school and would like to know how to improve my chances of admission. i currently am building my portfolio and plan on taking ap art classes my senior year. i applied for a film making opportunity and am taking the ACTs next month. also, if you have any film school or art school reccomendations, please let me know. thank you!
APs to take would be AP 2D Art and Design - arguably the easiest AP ever as instead of an exam you just make a portfolio over the course of the year. I think 3D Art and Design is the same thing, just with 3D art. I don't know much about AP Drawing, but for all of these courses there are guides and descriptions on collegeboard.com. That's really all of the AP art courses other than Music Theory and Art History. MT is probably my favorite AP I've taken so far as a musician, and I have a friend who's taking Art History who says it's boring, but if you are interested in that absolutely look into it!
I'm sure you can talk to an art teacher or guidance counselor about best courses and colleges for you, good luck.

One thing that can help admissions is doing an art based internship. Many museums, colleges, and camps offer them during summer for high school students. For college recommendations I suggest looking into School of Visual Arts. They are not listed on collegevine but they are worth looking into. Another suggestion is School of the Art Institute of Chicago which is listed. Also you should start looking at portfolio requirements now to know what you'll need.
