So I live in Peru and I'm trying to major in Biology in the US. I have really good grades and I think I might get a pretty good SAT score. The problem is that I don't really have any extracurriculars since it's something that universities don't really ask for in my country. I would be sending my applications at the end of this year and I want to know if it's too late or if there are some activities that I could still do that could improve my chances of getting into a salective school (It's my dream to get into the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign).
Thanks :)
Thank you so much :D
One extracurricular activity that I would start with is volunteering. I am not sure if it is different in Peru (I currently live in the US), but I have found that volunteering at a local community center, animal shelter, or food bank is an easy extracurricular activity to complete, and it looks good on college applications. If none of those ideas sound interesting, try maybe tutoring some of your peers in a topic they are struggling in. That is another popular and beneficial way to gain an extracurricular activity through volunteering. It might be hard to join a school club or sport this late before you apply to college, so I feel that volunteering would be a great activity to start with. I hope this helped!!
To keep this community safe and supportive:
Alright now listen I don't know of anything you can do as an extracurricular near you, but if you can try your hardest to find something and try to commit to it. It is never to late unless it is the second it's due. Just having a few more things on your resume can help, so try to get out there and find something. You can do it, I believe in you! (Also, good luck with getting in to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign!)
