Research And Medical Related Questions

Hi,

I'm currently a sophomore in high school. I'm a year younger than everyone in my class, so I can't participate in a lot of other medical related activities that are offered (they need people to be 16 or above). Would anyone have a medical school related or maybe a research opportunity that I could do? I want to become a general surgeon and hopefully go to an ivy league.

hi!

I'm a sophmore too and in the process of applying to med programs. Check out UC Irvine, Brown and UChicago. You may find some luck there depending on when you turn 15 or 16 and just some other date of birth stuff. Maybe you could apply to summer sessions at various colleges and gain college credit by taking gen chem, bio, o chem classes etc. Less work to do junior year, ig? Not too sure how I can help you but it's something at least. good luckkkk :)

This CollegeVine blog post lists a few extracurricular and research ideas that could be a good fit for you. Generally, independent activities will be the easiest for you to do given your age. Hope this helps!
