Hi! I want to know how universities look for course rigor? and can you please tell me how is my course rigor? I am currently doing IB and I have English A, lang B, Maths HL, Physics HL, Chemistry HL, and Economics SL. In my IGCSE I had 8 subjects (maths ext., physics, chemistry, English, German, Enterprise, ICT, Design, and Technology). Also, which grades will be more valuable for universities (IGCSE or IB)?
So I can really only speak for how rigor is evaluated so my school has 27 AP classes only 3 are offered before 11th grade and majority of classes are 2 semesters long.
I’d have taken 8 AP classes roughly 13 semesters plus other core graduation requirements that is competitive rigor to most selective schools. Now if I swapped a core class with a AP class in a subject I’m weak in it can work.
Really rigor is roughly an equation of challenging classes (IB AP etc) available challenging classes and feasibility of taking as a many challenging as possible
Hope this helps
IB 40/42 is all you need.
Coursework is just baseline. Honors and activities are far more important.
