Hi!! For context I am a rising senior and apart of my school's founding class. We have a sister location that has been around since 2014 (I think) but we just opened in the fall of 2019. Because of this, I wasn't offered a lot of clubs and AP classes because they just didn't exist on my campus. I have however taken College classes, honors classes and the AP class that was offered in 10th and 11th grade. I am a top 3 student with my rank and I am working towards being on my state board of education as a representative of my school. I had a lot of opportunities thanks to this school but im worried that my transcript won't look as strong as other applicants who were able to take a lot of IB/AP classes. Do y'all have any advice for me?
When it comes to academics, colleges mainly want to see that you have done well in the most rigorous classes available to you at your school. For example, if your school offered three AP classes and you took all three, that would be seen as strong academic performance given your context. So long as you are doing your best to take advantage of the academic and extracurricular resources that your school has, you will fare well in the admissions process. Colleges will know about the course offerings at your school from the school report that your guidance counselor will send them.
Going to a new school also means that colleges will approach your application without much admitted student data to compare your profile to. This means that your strengths will stand out more and your deficiencies will not be as glaring. Hope this helps!
