My dream schools are MIT, Stanford, NYU and UCLA, and i'm going to be a math major, and while the odds are low to get accepted, I was wondering what some things I could do are to make my resume stand out/have higher acceptance rates in general. Im a rising junior w/4.0 uw GPA (I get all A's), and I'm planning to take AP chem, APush, AP-eng,pre-calc and spanish 3 honors. I'm in band, volleyball and 1 club (FCA), but obviously these schools and applications in general are a competitive field. So pretty much what (activities) can I do to better my resume and odds. thanks! (p.s. im planning on starting to volunteer this year)
I know you've mentioned you are starting to volunteer this year, I would really emphasize this! Many students who attend selective schools have a history of volunteering and community service. Since I'm not certain what you are volunteering for, I will throw this out there just in case! I would encourage you to think about volunteering for things like tutoring especially in math courses (for example, become a tutor for freshman taking algebra 1!) Work like this alongside your course list really showcases not only your willingness to help but also your dedication to the major/career path you want to go in.
Hi! First of all, WOW! You have really nice GPA and you look like you're setting yourself up nicely class wise. For your ECs, I think they look great, but having some more math-related stuff would be good. You could potentially tutor younger kids on math, or start a mathletes club or something along the lines that is STEM related. Other than that, you are looking awesome everywhere else, and I wouldn't be too worried! Keep up the good work, good luck :-D
