I recently submitted an essay for a college summer reading essay competition. Typically after I finish writing an essay, I run it through Grammarly. I did the same with this essay, however, after I submitted this essay, I had read through my essay again and spotted a few grammatical errors (ex:Capitalization errors and redundancy). Will this hurt my chances of being a good contender to win this contest? Thanks so much for taking the time to read this btw.
Since your errors are minor, they will hardly hurt your chances of winning the contest. Your redundancies/tautology may not even be considered an issue depending on the judges' preferences. Hope this helps!
Since it's an essay competition, what matters most is the content and fluency of the essay. Grammar is secondary, but if it becomes tricky to decide he winner solely on these factors, grammar might be considered.
It depends on how much the same error occurs. No one is perfect and no reader should expect you to be however, you should minimize it by having future essays read by someone who knows your voice and how you write: a teacher, family member, close friends, college advisor etc.
