I've made a list for my own college search criteria so I hope you will find it useful:

Accredited (IT IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR COLLEGES TO BE ACCREDITED)

Location (In-state Students' tuition for public colleges is lower than out-of-state students' tuition)

Good programs for your Major

Good Professors

Optional (depends on the person): Has Double Major, Minors, BS/MD or Bachelors + Masters 5 yr program

Residential Living (dorm rooms)

Prestige

Research Opportunities

Internship Opportunities

Safe and accepting environment

Part-Time jobs around the area

Accepts AP Credits

Scholarship opportunities

Cost of Tuition and other accommodation

Difficulty of the programs (Ivy league colleges have a much more rigorous program)
