Some colleges I'm applying to offer honors programs I'm interested in. On the other hand, I would be required to submit either my SAT or ACT scores. I plan on retaking the SAT(I scored 1090) since these programs have applicants with a much higher scoring range. When it comes to the R&W sections, I'm fine with and score much higher than the math. Overall, it's the timing that really hinders my score. I feel that if I didn't have a time limit, I could score better on the exam. I'm also a slow reader. As far as the math goes, I do find with algebra questions, it's really the geometry questions I have difficulty with. I've tried Khan Academy, but I don't feel that it's really helping me. Any suggestions on preparing for the exam and ultimately improving my score?
Also, I found the ACT to be more straight forward and easier, in some areas, than the SAT. Again, it's really the timing I'm having an issue with.
I know that the SAT and ACT questions mainly have the same approach, so in order to combat being a slow reader, taking time to identify a pattern within the questions could help you get through them much quicker, giving you more time to complete more questions. Regarding your difficulty with geometry, you could ask a friend or teacher to help you review geometry questions. Getting a tutor on the subject, even for a short amount of time could really help you in the places you're having trouble with. Also, if you feel that the ACT is more straightforward, you should totally take a chance with it. You considering the ACT to be more straightforward may leave you with more time to answer questions since you won't have to reread the questions as much.
