I am applying to NC State and one of their prompts is about diversity and how I will contribute on their campus. In my essay, I talked about how working with people with disabilities at my work made me value the inclusivity and diversity in my workplace. It made me realize that my workplace would not work as smoothly without their help. I touch on how I will use what I learned from my coworkers to join a consulting club helping nonprofits get the help they need without the cost. Is this a good topic or should I change it?
I'd need the exact prompt to answer completely precisely, but I'm not super sure that you've answered the one you described. The topic on its own is a good idea, and if it matches the specific prompt fully, it sounds good! However, it seems to me (at first and second glance) that the prompt might be asking about what diversity you yourself bring, i.e. what marginalized/minority communities you're apart of.
I'd love to read the exact prompt, but that's my primary concern.
To keep this community safe and supportive:
Hey! Thank you for the response! The full essay prompt is: NC State University is committed to building a just and inclusive community, one that does not tolerate unjust or inhumane treatment, and that denounces it, clearly and loudly. Please describe what those words mean to you and how you will contribute to a more diverse and inclusive NC State environment.
