What can effect college acceptance?
Answered

In my school the administration is very strict on some of the rules in place. For example, I have to wear an ID visible on my person at all times when on campus. If I fail to have my badge visible I will get detention. There are similarly minor infractions punished by detention. I was wondering if I get detention for forgetting my ID or something equally small, will a college look at that and could it effect my acceptance chances?

Hi there! According to this CollegeVine article (https://blog.collegevine.com/do-college-admissions-officers-know-you-got-detention) detention won't deter your from getting accepted into college, especially for something as small as forgetting to wear your ID (that would be ridiculous!). Colleges don't really care about detentions (since they are usually for small reasons like talking in class, being rude, or forgetting an ID). What they really care about is your suspension and plagiarism record and they may not accept you if you have those on your record. But a minor detention in high school isn't something they truly are concerned about.

For more information on college acceptance and if they care about detention, you can read the article link above. Good luck!
