UT takes their essays SERIOUSLY. That is your chance to prove to them what makes you different and why you should be there. Be careful, purposeful, and personal.

Any college application imho 50% academics, 25% essays, and 25% EC/Honors.

Essays are VERY important, more than or equally important to grades and ECs. Essays show your character, what makes you stand out, and argues why you would improve their school. Make sure to put full effort into them and good luck.
