Hi! I'm a current IB Junior. My dream schools are NYU, UCLA, and Pepperdine but I'm worried that my stats are just ok. My dream is to go into a film school and become a director or producer. I haven't taken the SAT or ACT yet. Here are my stats-
1. 3.7 gpa
2. All 8 IB classes, (HLs are English, History, Film, Art)
3. I'm the founder and president of my school's film club
4. I volunteer at a local theater and create costumes and build sets
5. I've done theater for 9 years, with a couple substantial roles at non-school theaters
6. I have a blog about media (movies, musicians, celebs etc)
7. I have a YT where I talk about media things
8. I'm apart of SGA, had an elected officer position freshman year
9. I'm the VP of an online nonprofit where we fundraise, post, and make videos about mental health and current events
10. Generally apart of clubs like NHS, Model UN, Drama company, fashion club, Book club
11. I'm taking some fun credit courses at my local community college like music enjoyment, acting, theater, etc
What SAT goal should I set for myself to be more competitive? Are there any extracurriculars I should add or plan to not include to help myself get into film programs? Academically what should I improve? All freshman year I got straight B's but sophomore year I only got two B's in math and ap psych. I would say my all time hope is NYU if that helps!
Dude, your stats look awesome. Your extracurriculars are all tied into your potential major in some way, and you have a lot of them. NYU is test optional but that could change. I would try to raise your grades if I were you, most highly-ranking schools prefer As to Bs, but remember that "your essay is where you have the most control." That is a quote from an admissions rep from Drake U. He explained that the essay gives you power because you can explain WHY you have a low GPA, low extracurriculars, low grades, etc. because of a job, a mental low, or (likely) in your case, juggling a lot of extracurriculars at once. Hope this helps!

I'm also an IB junior and I'd say my list of stats is a lot more underwhelming than yours, and I still have a 51% chance of getting into NYU. I believe you'll easily get accepted the way you are already
