How do you stop procrastination?

I, like many other students I know, am struggling a little bit right now with my mental health and meeting personal deadlines. My cumulative GPA is a 3.4 I'm just like really unmotivated, yet extremely stressed out at the same time (I've been in CBSE school the entire year because I live in India). I guess what I'm asking is are there any tips, tricks, apps, programs, etc. that you have been using recently that have helped with this kind of thing. All answers are much appreciated and if you've been feeling this way too, buddy you're not alone! :0

btw feel free to use this as a space to vent/rant as well, if needed!

Hi @mash23! Your situation is completely understandable! The transition from 10th to 11th in CBSE is harsh, especially if you've been a beneficiary of the already reduced syllabus being split between Term I and Term II last year. That is probably what made your cumulative GPA drop. I don't think 9th and 10th would have been an issue.

Now that you're in 12th, there's a couple of things you need to take care of. I'm not sure whether you got to Collegevine just in search of tips to stop procrastination or also for US college admissions guidance. If you're looking for admission in a reputable (not Top 20) university in the US, 1220 SAT won't help.

Now, getting to the main point:

You need to be clear about the "why" of studying. Set a high but achievable goal. Write it on paper or wherever you can easily see it on a daily basis.

Find out the time of the day when you're most productive. If you're taking PCM, English, and CS/PE, you might need to give more time for PCM. Stick uncompromisingly to a fixed schedule. If your concentration span is not much, make 1-1.5 hour study slots. Even schedule your breaks; this will help your mental health.

If you need help in understanding Physics and Chemistry concepts, I strongly recommend watching Physicswallah videos on Youtube. Vedantu is good for Math, but will go deeper as they also cover JEE Advanced. Physicswallah mainly sticks to NCERT and sometimes goes into JEE Mains.

Hope this helps!

I get you. For me, I just couldn't be motivated into doing anything and would spend an hour in front of my computer not knowing what to write. I suggest taking a step back and reevaluating your goals and your current place in life. Is there a certain issue or person bugging you? Is there something that prevents you from doing your work? Is there something you enjoy doing? If you figure that out, try to cut out anything making you feel bad/stressed/unmotivated and focus on that which makes you happy.
