Admissions Advice

Will the Covid-19 pandemic cause more reliance on essays over test scores for the Fall 2021 applicants?

As a senior, my concern has to do with the changes in application procedures for the Fall 2021 admissions. Since many schools are switching to test optional, will there be a higher reliance on essays or other areas when colleges admissions are reviewing applications?

Yes. colleges will place more weight on essays this admissions cycle. They will also place more weight on GPA, Rigor, ECS, Recommendations, Interview and Talent. But keep in mind Test Optional is not Test Blind so if you have high Test Scores, submit them because that will differentiate you from other equal candidates.

If you apply to a test optional school and dont submit SAT you likely get your rigor and gpa be more impactful. Essays maybe more impactful than ECs becuase of COVID but I kn ow nothing concrete.
