How can I better prepare for applying to the United States Air Force Academy? I'm good academically, but when it comes to the physical aspect, I don't know how to get better or stronger. Any exercise tips or pointers to get to where I can complete the requirements?
One of the best ways to physically prepare for the USAFA is to play any competitive sport if you are not already doing so. The higher the level, the better for your physical preparation - and application too.
Aside from sports, be sure to do workouts at home that will prepare you for the Candidate Fitness Assessment. These exercises test your stamina and true strength rather than muscle mass. So long as you constantly practice these exercises, you should pass the CFA.
Lastly, there are many hobbies and extracurriculars that can build your strength while also teaching you relevant skills for the military. Hiking, hunting, rowing, airsoft, and rock climbing are just a few of the options. I also highly recommend joining the Civil Air Patrol or the US Naval Sea Cadet Corps, which will provide you with physical training during monthly drill meetings.
Hope this helps, and don't forget to "motivate your socks!"
